Going the path towards Sustainability seems to be a very complex task for all actors to recognize and deal with the web of life. In this context the Nordic countries are often mentioned to be norm entrepreneurs in a variety of parameters (e.g. Global Happiness Index, wealth, social system, SDG´s, Ecological Footprint). For this purpose the reader will be shown what the main patterns of Sustainability are in each Nordic country presented by researches of all these countries. Exists there are special Nordic Sustainability? What are the critical aspects of Sustainability in the Nordics? By using systemic and narrative methods some knots are discovered in an interdisciplinary way. But the critical analysis finishes not in merely quantifying. It will be enlarged by a qualitative analysis as well. Each author got a maximum amount of freedom in understanding Sustainability in their countries. SDG´s are only used in an indirect way relative to the author´s position. Similarities and differences between the Nordics may be found from a neutral perspective by German researchers in the end of the book. Contents Introduction - Torsten Graap: Theoretical Designs of Sustainability in Nordic countries - Georg-Stephan Barfuß: SDG´s - an indirect way to understand and compare the Nordic countries - Bernd Henningsen, Hannes Saarinen, Joachim Krüger: Cultural impacts to understand the Nordics - Johan Jansson, Katarina Eckerberg, Jonas Nilsson, Herman Stål: Sweden - Perspectives on Sustainability: Stuck between two paradigms? - Urs Steiner Brandt: Denmark - Nordic Sustainable Futures - Ove Jakobsen, Vivi Storsletten: Norway - Presence and Future of Sustainability - Eveliina Asikainen, Päivi Rajala: Finland - Towards a sustainable society - Auður Ing lfsd ttir: Iceland - A Role Model or Free Rider - Tobias Etzold, Christian Opitz: Greenland - Presence and Future of Susainability - Lau Øfjord Blaxekjær, Gestur Hovgaard, Erika Anne Hayfield: Sustainability in the Faroe Islands - Torsten Graap, Georg-Stephan Barfuß: Nordic Sustainability? Pronouncing Shakespeare

How did Shakespeare´s plays sound when they were originally performed? How can we know, and could the original pronunciation ever be recreated? For three days in June 2004 Shakespeare´s Globe presented their production of Romeo and Juliet in original, Shakespearian pronunciation. In an unusual blend of autobiography, narrative, and academic content, reflecting the unique nature of the experience, this 2005 book by David Crystal recounts the first attempt in over 50 years to mount a full-length Shakespeare play in original pronunciation. Crystal begins by discussing the Globe theatre´s approach to ´original practices´, which has dealt with all aspects of Elizabethan stagecraft - except pronunciation. A large section is devoted to the nature of the Early Modern English sound system. There are reports of how the actors coped with the task of learning the pronunciation, how it affected their performances and how the audiences reacted.

The Gourmet Detective did not expect his job to be easy. He had been sent by Desmond Lansdown, respected actor and London´s premier restaurateur, to find the best chef in Italy. But even the most difficult tasks can be savored when one enjoys his work, and the sleuth happily immerses himself in his duties, sampling the peninsula´s finest cuisine with his beautiful and mysterious guide, Francesca. But between courses of boccocini--vol au vents filled with chicken giblets and truffles - and strangolopreti - a gnocchi and spinach dish whose name means ´´priest stranglers´´ - the determined gourmet begins to suspect that someone is trying to kill him. And when an agricultural magnate with whom he has enjoyed several meals turns up facedown in a swimming pool, the Gourmet Detective must dodge stampeding buffalo, a kamikaze airplane, and a killer monk, while at the same time choosing the perfect chef and solving the perfect murder. In a country where chefs enjoy a celebrity status second only to their food, would one kill to be the best? In Death al Dente, the fourth installment in the Gourmet Detective series, the discerning sleuth finds himself embroiled in a sizzling mixture of food and passion. Can he discover the murderer´s motive before his own goose is cooked? 1. Language: English. Narrator: David Baker. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/adbl/005915/bk_adbl_005915_sample.mp3. Contested World Orders (eBook, ePUB)

World orders are increasingly contested. As international institutions have taken on ever more ambitious tasks, they have been challenged by rising powers dissatisfied with existing institutional inequalities, by non-governmental organizations worried about the direction of global governance, and even by some established powers no longer content to lead the institutions they themselves created. For the first time, this volume examines these sources of contestation under a common and systematic institutionalist framework. While the authority of institutions has deepened, at the same time it has fuelled contestation and resistance. In a series of rigorous and empirically revealing chapters, the authors of Contested World Orders examine systematically the demands of key actors in the contestation of international institutions. Ranging in scope from the World Trade Organization and the Nuclear Non-proliferation Regime to the Kimberley Process on conflict diamonds and the climate finance provisions of the UNFCCC, the chapters deploy a variety of methods to reveal just to what extent, and along which lines of conflict, rising powers and NGOs contest international institutions. Contested World Orders seeks answers to the key questions of our time: Exactly how deeply are international institutions contested? Which actors seek the most fundamental changes? Which aspects of international institutions have generated the most transnational conflicts? And what does this mean for the future of world order?

Point of Dreams: A Novel of Astreiant: Astreian...

The city of Astreiant has gone crazy with enthusiasm for a new play, The Drowned Island, a lurid farrago of melodrama and innuendo. Pointsman Nicolas Rathe is not amused, however, at a real dead body on stage and must investigate. A string of murders follow, perhaps related to the politically important masque that is to play on that same stage. Rathe must once again recruit the help of his lover, former soldier Philip Eslingen, whose knowledge of actors and the stage, and of the depths of human perversity and violence, blends well with Rathe´s own hard-won experience with human greed and magical mayhem. Their task is complicated by the season, for it is the time of year when the spirits of the dead haunt the city and influence everyone, and also by the change in their relationship when the loss of Philip´s job forces him to move in with Nicolas. Mystery, political intrigue, floral magic, astrology, and romance - both theatrical and personal - combine to make this a compelling listen. All genteel hell soon breaks loose as a local ladies´ group organizes a protest against the ´´Hollywood morality´´ of the live-in couple, and the competition among the quirky bed-and-breakfast owners takes on a life of its own.
