Waldemar Matu ka was a Czecho-Slovak singer who became popular in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1986, he emigrated to the United States.Waldemar Matu ka was born in Ko ice, Slovak Republic, former Czechoslovakia, and spent his whole childhood in Prague. His mother was a singer in the Vienna operetta theatres. He worked as a glassmaker and performed on various musical instruments with many different bands. In 1960 he recorded his first song Suvenýr (Souvenir). Later he became an actor in the theatre Semafor. On the stage he performed with Karel t drý, Ji í Suchý and, starting in 1961, with Eva Pilarová. He won the Zlatý Slavík (Golden Nightingale) music poll twice, in 1962 and 1967, and placed second several times.

Corren received his education at Juilliard. He created the role of Cosme McMoon opposite Judy Kaye's Florence Foster Jenkins in the 2005 Broadway production of Souvenir. He also starred on Broadway in Torch Song Trilogy, for which he received awards from both the Los Angeles and San Francisco Drama Critics Circle while on tour. He appeared Off Broadway in The Last Sunday in June, Saturday Night, and Tom Foolery. He played the recurring part of Medill for nine seasons on NBC's Law & Order and has also appeared on Rescue Me, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order: Trial by Jury. Corren has also written for TV and corporate clients, including Martha Stewart's early weekly television shows and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
