A Streetcar Named Desire is the 1951 Elia Kazan/Tennessee Williams triumph that earned 12 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture , while also courting controversy with some last-minute edits undertaken to appease the censorship board. Marlon Brando made his first indelible mark on audiences in this powerful adaptation of Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Gone With the Wind's Vivien Leigh is the neurotic belle Blanche du Bois who struggles to hold on to her fading Southern gentility against the brutish badgering of her brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski (Brando). Leigh, Kim Hunter, Karl Malden and the rich black-and-white cinematography were all awarded Oscars for this cinematic classic. While Brando was the only one of the film's four Oscar-nominated actors not to secure a win, his passionate cries of Stella! Stella! Stella! remain etched forever in Hollywood history. Special Features: Commentary by Karl Malden, Rudy Behlmer and Jeff Young Elia Kazan: A Director's Journey (1995 First Run documentary) A Streetcar on Broadway A Streetcar in Hollywood Censorship and Desire North and the Music of the South An Actor Named Brando Marlon Brando Screen Test Outtakes Audio Outtakes Warner Bros. He rejects revenge, forgives oppressors who jailed him 27 years for his fight against apartheid and finds hope of national unity in an unlikely place: the rugby field. Clint Eastwood (named 2009’s Best Director by the National Board of Review) directs an uplifting film about a team and a people inspired to greatness. A Fistful Of Dollars:The first of the 'spaghetti westerns', A Fistful Of Dollars became an instant cult hit and launched the film careers of Italian Writer-Director Sergio Leone, and a little known American television actor named Clint Eastwood. As the lean, cold-eyed cobra-quick gunfighter - Clint became the first of the 'anti heroes'. A Fistful Of Dollars is the western taken to the extreme - with unremitting violence, gritty realism, tongue-in-check humour and striking visuals. For A Few Dollars More:A Fistful Of Dollars had proven so successful that a sequel was inevitable. The superbly scripted For A Few Dollars More tells the tale of a ruthless quest to track down the notorious bandit El Indio, played by Gian Maria Volonte, by an unforgettable alliance between ruthless gun-slingers Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef. Sergio Leone's direction is both violent and operatic and Ennio Morricone's atmospheric score keeps the tension taut as the action moves from jail breaks and holds up to spectacular gun battles. The Good, The Bad And The Ugly:In the third of Eastwood's spaghetti trilogy Director Sergio Leone substitutes the upright puritan Protestant ethos, so familiar in Hollywood westerns, for a seedy cynical standpoint towards death and morality. The complex plot of bloodshed and betrayal winds its way through the American Civil War following a team of brutal bandits battling to unearth a fortune buried beneath an unmarked grave, and boasts in find Ennio Morricone score featuring a main theme that reached No. 1 in the world's pop charts.Hang'em High:They riddled him with bullets. They strung him up. They left him to die. But they made two fatal mistakes, they hanged the wrong man... and they didn't finish the job. In his first American-made western, Clint Eastwood indelibly carves his niche as the quintessential tough guy - cool-headed, iron-willed and unrelenting in the pursuit of revenge.Special Features:A Fistful Of Dollars/A Fistful Of Dollars More: Audio Commentary By Sir Christop

Continuing a run of Seventies smash-hits for director Peter Bogdanovich after the enormous success of his The Last Picture Show and What’s Up, Doc?, Paper Moon saw the filmmaker sustaining his collaboration with actor Ryan O’Neal, and introduced the world to the precocious talent of the future Barry Lyndon star's daughter Tatum, then 10, who for her performance was the youngest-ever actress to be awarded an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. After meeting a newly orphaned girl named Addie Loggins (Tatum O’Neal), con man Moses Pray (Ryan O’Neal), who may or may not be Addie’s father, is enlisted to deliver the newly orphaned Addie to her aunt in Missouri. Shortly after however, the two realise that together they make an efficient scam-artist duo. Adventure ensues as the pair blaze through the American Midwest, stealing, swindling, and selling the moon… With its stunning black-and-white cinematography shot by the great László Kovács and its superb evocation of Depression-era locales, Paper Moon endures as one of the key American comedies of the 1970s. A stunning romantic drama from writer-director Joseph L. Mankiewicz (All About Eve, The Barefoot Contessa), A Letter to Three Wives explores the domestic travails of three couples and the woman that brings them to the brink of crisis. The letter of the title is written with a poisonous pen: the three women (portrayed by Jeanne Crain, Linda Darnell, and Ann Sothern) receive a note stating that one of their husbands has run off with a woman named Addie Ross – which husband in particular, however, remains unmentioned, though each husband had their own affinity for Ross. And so amid the women’s mounting anxiety commences a series of flashbacks, each telling the story of how the three individual marriages had come in their own way to be so strained at the present... A spectacular success at the time of its release, A Letter to Three Wives was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, and earned Mankiewicz the Academy Awards for both Best Director and Best Screenplay. The Masters of Cinema Series is proud to present A Letter to Three Wives in a special Dual Format edition that includes the film on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK. “Despite its emotional intensity, the film is comic, effervescently so, and its magical ending lends wit a metaphysical dimension” – New Yorker Special Duel Format (Blu-ray & DVD) Edition Features: Gorgeous 1080p presentation of the film on Blu-ray Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing Feature-length audio commentary with Mankiewicz biographer Kenneth Geist, film historian Cheryl Lower, and actor Christopher Mankiewicz, the director’s son Fox Movietone newsreel covering the Academy Awards ceremony 36-page booklet containing essays, interview material, and rare archival imagery • Trailer
