The Existential Actor:Life and Death, Onstage and Off Jeff Zinn
This is a book for the thinking actor, and the finest actors I´ve known are just that. The best actors bring it all together: body, heart, spirit, and mind. This book is for the actor who thinks about craft and influence, who thinks about the relationship of performance to living, who thinks about doing and what that doing means. Acting is a metaphor, and it´s a mirror. A theory of acting, if true, shows us to ourselves. Jeff Zinn knows this. He knows it as an actor, director, teacher, and thinker. His theory of everything is simple and revelatory. (From the foreword by Todd London) 1. Language: English. Narrator: Jeff Zinn. In October 2011, Jeff Ragsdale, a down-and-out actor and stand-up comedian, posted a flyer around Lower Manhattan asking people to call him if they wanted to talk. He thought he’d get a dozen calls; instead he got hundreds, and then thousands, once pictures of the flyer went viral on the net. The calls came from all over the country and from as far away as Spain, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Taiwan, and Australia. Jeff spoke to as many people as he could, answering his phone all day long. Here are the conversations, texts, and voicemails of a particular moment in time - a hilarious, dark, intimate portrait of the way we live now. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Jeff Ragsdale. Jeff Regan, Investigator came to CBS Radio on July 10, 1948, with Jeff Regan as a tough private eye working for a detective agency run by Anthony J. Lyon. Regan introduced himself on each show with: ´´I get 10 a day and expenses. They call me the Lyon´s Eye.´´ Lyon, portrayed by Wilms Herbert, ran the International Detective Bureau, a small private investigations firm in downtown Los Angeles, with often oversized ambitions. Regan handled rough assignments from Lyon, with whom he was not always on good terms. Actor Jack Webb played Regan as tough and tenacious, with a dry sense of humor. The series ended when Webb left the show in December 1948, but was resurrected in October 1949 with a new cast. Frank Graham starred as Jeff Regan, and Frank Nelson portrayed his boss, Anthony J. Lyon. This version lasted until August of 1950.
