Hidden in the shadows of the Colosseum, the SUBURRA district was the criminal underbelly of Ancient Rome, home to the city s darkest secrets. In modern times, crime and corruption has spread deep inside the city where everything - even the priesthood - can be bought for a price. From acclaimed director Stefano Sollima (Gomorrah, Romanzo Criminale and the forthcoming Sicario sequel, Soldado) and based on the novel co-written by Carlo Bonini & Giancarlo De Cataldo, SUBURRA takes place over seven days leading up to an Apocalypse as a former crime boss, known as Samurai , is instructed by corrupt Mafia families to use his influence to help turn the waterfront of Rome into a new Las Vegas. Elsewhere, after a night of excess leads to a young girl s death, politician Filippo Malgradi (Pierfrancesco Favino) becomes pivotal in a chain of events which see him drawn into a web woven by Samurai. As the countdown to the Apocalypse draws to a close, secrets are quickly unravelled as increasingly powerful gangsters become caught in the crossfire. As the city begins to crumble, all those involved must choose to sink or swim by betraying those closest to them. Featuring a soaring score by French electronic group M83, SUBURRA also stars Elio Germano (Best Actor at Cannes Film Festival for La Nostra Vita), Greta Scarano (Senza Nessuna Pietà), Alessandro Borghi (Don t Be Bad, Romanzo Criminale) and Claudio Amendola (La Scorta, Queen Margot). Following the film s huge domestic success, Netflix has commissioned a 10-part SUBURRA series the very first Netflix original series from Italy set to debut on the streaming service in 2017.

The most celebrated Spanish filmmaker since Luis Buñuel, director, screenwriter, composer and actor Pedro Almodóvar was born in Calzada de Calatrava, La Mancha, in 1951. Aged sixteen, Almodóvar moved to Madrid and purchased his first movie camera and became familiar with what would later drive his formative films: the dramas and miseries of the Spanish middle classes at the beginning of the age of consumerism. The films in this box set include, Dark Habits (1983), What Have I Done to Deserve This? (1984) Law of Desire (1987) and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988). As well as sealing the collaborations that Almodóvar had made with the actors he met from his days in an independent theatre group (including Carmen Maura), the films from this period also display his acute visual style and recurring thematic obsessions including sexual violence, female masochism and addiction. It was this epoch that also bought the first of numerous Academy Award® nominations for Women on the Verge. Kika (1993) and The Flower of My Secret (1995) continue the director’s fascination with strong female protagonists, transgression, pain and regeneration. This stunning collection is a must-have for all fans of Almodóvar - each film has been beautifully restored - showcasing the work of one of the world’s most celebrated filmmaker. For Alex Davidson, being a celebrity publicist at a Los Angeles PR firm isn't the glamour job she thought it would be. Her love life is zilch, her newest client is an actor fresh out of rehab, and her firm has just been bought out by a rival agency. Suddenly, Alex finds her once-secure job at stake. Set in the sun-drenched L.A. of celebrity magazine photo shoots, velvet-roped VIP parties, and red carpet events, this is a laugh-out-loud novel of one young woman's attempt to make it in the male-dominated, shark-infested waters of Hollywood. It will satisfy even the most insatiable celebraholic. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Laura Hamilton. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/live/000102/bk_live_000102_sample.mp3. The Ology of Isms is a Nigerian twist on Hans Christian Anderson's classic fairy tale "The Emperor's New Clothes", written by Nigerian playwright Emmanuel Adeleye. This radio theater production is produced by Joe Bevilacqua and features sound effects, music, and a full cast. Emmanuel Adeleye was born in Nigeria in 1961. After graduating high school, he worked with the Nigerian Television Authority and with the Federation Radio Corporation of Nigeria as a playwright, actor, and artist. He then came to the United States, where he studied theater at Kean College (now Kean University) in Union, New Jersey. In 1981 Adeleye teamed with Joe Bevilacqua to create The Ology of Isms, his first radio play ever presented in the United States. It first aired on WKNJ Radio and later on Sirius-XM Satellite Radio. Joe Bevilacqua, also known as Joe Bev, is primarily known as a radio theater dramatist. However, his career has taken him into every aspect of show business, including stage, film, and television as a producer, director, writer, actor, and even cartoonist. In 1971 Bevilacqua's father bought him a cassette recorder on which he created his first audio story, Willoughby and the Professor. He acted all the voices himself at the age of 12. In 1975 Daws Butler, the voice of Yogi Bear and many Hanna-Barbera and Jay Ward cartoon characters, dubbed himself Joe Bev's personal mentor after hearing a 120-minute cassette of Bev's Willoughby improvisations. Since 1980 Bevilacqua has produced many award-winning radio programs for National Public Radio, Sirius-XM Satellite Radio, and others. 1. Language: English. You Look Like That Girl: A Child Actor Stops Pr...

At the age of 22, Lisa Jakub had what she was supposed to want: She was a working actor in Los Angeles. She had more than 40 movies and TV shows to her name. She had been in blockbusters like Mrs. Doubtfire and Independence Day. She walked the red carpet and lived in the house she had bought when she was 15. But something was missing. Passion. Purpose. Happiness. Lisa had been working since the age of four, after a man approached her parents at a farmer's market and asked her to audition for a commercial. That chance encounter dictated the next 18 years of her unusual - and frequently awkward - life. She met Princess Diana...and almost fell on her while attempting to curtsy. She filmed in exciting locations...and her high school asked her not to come back. She went to fancy parties...and got kind of kidnapped that one time. Success was complicated. Making movies, traveling the world, and meeting intriguing people was fun for a while, but Lisa eventually realized she was living a life based on momentum and definitions of success that were not her own. She battled severe anxiety and panic attacks while feeling like she was living someone else's dream. Not wanting to become a child actor stereotype, Lisa retired from acting and left LA in search of a path that felt more authentic to her. In this funny and insightful book, Lisa chronicles the adventures of growing up in the film industry and her difficult decision to leave behind the only life she had ever known, to examine her priorities and to write the script for her own life. She explores the universal question we all ask ourselves: what do I want to be when I grow up? 1. Language: English. Narrator: Lisa Jakub. 'My future mother-in-law burst into tears when she heard her son was to marry an actress. There's still something disturbing, I grant you, about the word actress. If an MP or some other outstanding person plays fast and loose with an actress, the world is unsurprised. She is certainly no better than she should be, and probably French....' As well as being a mother (to the actresses Sophie and Emma Thompson) and a devoted carer to her own mother and mother-in-law, Phyllida Law is also a distinguished actress, and Dead Now of Course is the tale of her early acting career. As a young member of a travelling company, Phyllida learned to cope with whatever was thrown at her, from making her own false eyelashes to battling flammable costumes and rogue cockroaches. We find her in Mrs Miller's digs, which were shared with a boozy monkey bought from Harrods, an Afghan hound known as the 'the flying duster', several hens and various children. Filled with funny, charming anecdotes, Dead Now of Course paints a fascinating picture of life in the theatre - and at the heart of the story is an enchanting account of Phyllida's courtship with her future husband, the actor and writer Eric Thompson. 1.
