This program consists of audio lessons 6 to 10 from Learning Italian Like Crazy. It will teach you how to speak authentic conversational Italian. I have only used native Italian speakers in this program to make sure that you develop an authentic Italian accent. If you are not concerned with learning how to speak real everyday conversational Italian, then this program is probably not for you. I understand that there are people who only want to learn enough Italian to communicate with a hotel clerk, restaurant waiter, flight attendant, etc. when they take their next trip to Italy. But there are others who want to learn enough Italian so that they will be able to develop meaningful friendships and relationships with Italian speakers. If the latter category best describes you, then this program is for you. This program also puts a major emphasis on improving pronunciation. Some people have a natural ability that allows them to quickly develop native-like pronunciation. You probably know someone who is this type of person. We have all seen or heard someone who can imitate the voice of a famous politician, actor, singer or other celebrity so well that you could almost be fooled into thinking that you are actually hearing the famous person speak. Unfortunately, I was not born with that talent. I had to learn certain techniques to improve my pronunciation when learning foreign languages. Those same pronunciation-enhancing techniques are incorporated into this program. So if you´ve struggled to improve your Italian pronunciation in the past, after completing this program don´t be surprised if native Italian speakers begin to compliment you on your pronunciation. 1. Irregular Immigration in Southern Europe - Acto...

Focusing on the dynamics of irregular immigration in Southern EU Member States, this book analyses how the phenomenon is managed at national and local levels in different legal and political systems. In doing so, it answers vital policy questions regarding the continued existence of irregular migration, pathways to legality, and relations between unauthorized migrants and receiving societies. The author argues that while the economic crisis and migrant flows coming from the South and East of the Mediterranean Sea have called this regime into question, it is the needs of labour markets in Southern Europe and compliance with European Union rules that has had a more dominant effect. The particular manner in which labour markets, political actors, social institutions, and migrants networks intersect are shown to be distinctive features of the migration regime in this region. Describing bordering and debordering practices, from the island of Lampedusa to local communities in distant regions, this book brings fresh insights to urgent areas of debate within the field. It analyses why many irregular immigrants are socially accepted, such as women who perform domestic and care activities, whereas others are rejected and marginalized, as is often the case for asylum seekers, despite having permission to reside. Drawing together twenty years of research and addressing the current crisis, it will appeal to policy-makers, students and scholars of migration. Maurizio Ambrosini is Professor of Sociology of Migration at the University of Milan and chargé denseignement at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France. In addition to writing several books in Italian and articles in various languages, he is the author of Irregular Immigration and Invisible Welfare (Palgrave 2013) and edited Europe: No Migrants land? (ISPI, 2016).

This book provides a comprehensive profile of the development of sociology in Italy from the post-war period to the present day. The first English-language account of the history of Italian sociology, it focuses on the process of institutionalization of the discipline within the Italian university system and its changing relationships with extra-academic actors and institutions: political parties, unions, the Catholic Church, political and social movements, as well as local and national governments. Arranged chronologically across eight chapters, it presents all major steps in the development of the discipline in a theoretically-informed but accessible way. The authors explore the pioneering phase of the 1950s to the establishment of the first academic chairs in the 1960s, from the student revolts of 1968 to the creation of the first sociological association in the 1980s and up to the present day. It will appeal to social science and history scholars and students, as well as readers interested in the history of Contemporary Italy. Andrea Cossu is Senior Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Trento, Italy. His main areas of research are Sociological Theory and Cultural Sociology, with a particular focus on collective memory, reputational processes, and social fields. Matteo Bortolini is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Padova, Italy. His main areas of research are the Sociology of Knowledge and Sociological Theory, with a particular focus on intellectuals, social practices, and reputational processes.
